Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of the Closer Couples app and this website, operated by Privacy LLC, a Mississippi limited liability company.
1. Who can use Closer Couples
You must be 18 or older. Closer Couples includes adult intimacy content, and accounts are gated accordingly. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
2. Your account and your couple
Closer Couples works by pairing two accounts. When you pair, you and your partner share access to your couple's content. Either of you can unpair at any time from within the app.
Content you write is shared with your partner by design; that is the entire purpose of the app. Do not write anything you would not want the person you paired with to read.
3. Your content
Your content stays yours. We claim no ownership of what you write. Because it is end-to-end encrypted, we could not use it even if we wanted to, because we only ever hold the encrypted form. We store and transmit it solely to deliver the service to the two of you. The security model explains that design.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Closer Couples to harass, threaten, coerce, or abuse anyone, including your partner
- Share content involving anyone under 18
- Attempt to access another couple's data, or to break the app's security
- Resell, redistribute, or scrape the question content
- Use automated means to create accounts or generate activity
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
5. Subscriptions and payment
Closer Couples offers an optional paid subscription. Payment is handled by the App Store or Google Play, and their terms govern the transaction, including renewal and refunds. Current public pricing is listed on the pricing page. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you cancel through the store you bought from, not through us.
6. Availability, and what Closer Couples is not
Closer Couples is not a crisis, safety, or monitoring service. Nobody at Closer Couples reads or monitors your content; we cannot. Closer Couples does not detect distress, does not escalate anything to anyone, and must not be relied on in an emergency. If you or your partner are in danger or in crisis, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line.
Closer Couples is not therapy and is not a substitute for professional care. It is a prompt for conversation between two people.
We provide the service as-is. We aim to keep it running but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and features may change.
7. Encryption, and the honest trade-off
Because your content is encrypted with a key we never hold, we cannot recover it for you if you and your partner both lose access to your devices and your recovery phrase. This is a deliberate design choice, not a defect, and it is the price of us being unable to read your content. The privacy policy lists what is encrypted.
8. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Privacy LLC, a Mississippi limited liability company is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Closer Couples, including loss of content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
9. Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time from within the app. We may terminate accounts for violations of these terms.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date above, and for material changes we will notify you in the app. Continuing to use Closer Couples after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Mississippi, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Questions about them go to [email protected].
